On 30th June six Tudor Grange Redditch students – Oliver Bushell, Molly Noke, Ella Maddocks, Hope Foster, Dan Mills and Jordan Walsh –  travelled the short distance to the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel to compete for the title of BASE Champions in the prestigious National Final. By competing in the final the Year 13 team are amongst the top 48 teams across the UK beating off competition from more than 3,000 students in order to get to the final stage. An incredible achievement in itself.

The students were presented with a new, tough business challenge which required them to apply the knowledge, skills and experience they have gained during their studies in order to show determination, business excellence and creativity to ultimately try to take home the top award. The team did not win, however their presentation was praised by their mentor and the judges for its professionalism and the team was also congratulated for their excellent team work throughout the day.

After the business challenge concluded students were given chance to get ready for the celebration dinner in the evening. A delicious three-course meal, award ceremony and evening entertainment were put on for the final 48 teams. The students were then able to enjoy the facilities of the hotel, including overnight accommodation and breakfast the following morning. Teacher Mrs James said “I am so proud of these 6 students and what they have achieved throughout this competition. They have been exceptional in representing the school and I know they are all going to go on and do great things in the future”.
