On Wednesday 8th March 2017, some of the Tudor Scholars went to hear the University of Birmingham’s EPS Distinguished Lecture. At TGAR we promote a growth mindset, which encourages us to persevere and develop the crucial learning attribute of resilience. Mr Kent came from very humble beginnings and went to the University of Birmingham, which he credits with giving him the skills and attitude he needed to create a company valued at 1 billion dollars. Every PC that is built now contains one of his 3D graphics chips. His relentless pursuit of technological innovation has made him one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country. It was all the more inspiring then, that his talk to the alumni of the university and our students was focussed on what he had learned by his failures, rather than just his successes.
