Skill

It is required that all of our students to have the opportunity to discuss sensitive topics in a safe environment where we encourage curiosity but insist that the topics are approached respectfully. This subject is not only to impart knowledge and raise awareness, but to understand how students can express their views and experiences in a professional space which serves as a model for their later lives.

Character

We want students to have the facts that will contribute to their lives inside and outside of academic achievement. Discussion by its very nature will not only reveal their character but develop it, honing their articulation and approaches to situations and conversations. We want students to become more confident speakers, purveyors of fact and respect in the everchanging world around them.

Experiences

Students will have the opportunity to engage with experiences of real people, encouraging them to contribute their opinion to scenarios that range from healthy eating to relationship dynamics. We strive to ensure our students are more empathetic to the community but to also one another, understanding that their own life experiences imbue them with a unique perspective that should be valued.

Criticality

PSHE is designed to develop students’ ability to think critically about the world around them and to carefully consider their own contributions to it. This subject will encourage them to understand the human experience and their position in it, developing the emotional intelligence necessary to articulate their own thoughts and feelings but also understanding the thoughts and feelings of others.
